The recently completed Louisiana Orphan Train Museum as it is in the Vieux Village Tourist Center of historic downtown Opelousas, La.

The Louisiana Orphan Train Society, Inc. has a board of directors that meets monthly.  The board consists of descendants of orphan train riders or someone connected with a rider through marriage, friendship etc. We discuss any new developments about the history of the “riders,” as they are known.  We seek to document information about their lives, gathering pictures, and tell their life stories.  This information is gathered from their descendants.and publications.

Board Members:

  Harold Dupre, president
  John Ledoux, vice president
  Florella Inhern, secretary/treasurer
  Paul H Kimball, board member

The grand opening of our 2,400-square-feet museum was held on October 10, 2009, and it houses artifacts and valuable genealogical resources for descendants and visitors.
